AMERICA/ARGENTINA - Cura Brochero inspires priests today

Brochero (Agenzia Fides) - The spirit, the service and the mission of Cura Brochero - the holy priest, canonized on October 16, 2016 by Pope Francis – is an inspiration for the mission of the Argentine priests today: say 600 priests and Bishops from all over the country, gathered in recent days in the town of Villa Cura Brochero. The priests filled the city for the eighth National Clergy Meeting to reflect on the service and mission of Cura Brochero and find in him a source of inspiration for their priestly and pastoral ministry.
"We shared three intense days", says to Fides Bishop Sergio Buenanueva, at the head of the Diocese of San Francisco, and one of the organizers of the meeting who registered a record number of participants this year. "After having been here, in Brochero, feeling the presence of the holy priest and his way of living the Gospel, we start off with a renewed joy of being priests for our people", said Mgr. Buenanueva. "It was not an assembly, but a joint reflection on various aspects of our ministry: we do it every three years and it is a very motivating experience for everyone", explained Mgr. Santiago Olivera, Bishop emeritus of the diocese of Cruz del Eje and current titular of the castrense seat.
Among those who led the moments of reflection, there was the Jesuit, Angel Rossi, a profound connoisseur of Brocherian spirituality. The testimony of a woman was one of the most felt moments: Maria Silvia Fiorentino, current superior of the Congregation of the Servants of the Heart of Jesus, spoke of the story of Catalina de Maria Rodríguez, who will be beatified in Cordoba next November 25.
