Araguaina (Agenzia Fides) - The Bishop of the Diocese of Tocantinopolis, Mgr. Giovane Pereira de Melo, blessed the premises of the new House for pregnant women, babies and for women who have just given birth of the Don Orione Hospital of Araguaina (Tocantins). It is a cozy, comfortable, well-structured facility with a 24-hour specialized staff. "This place - said the Bishop in the note sent to Fides - is a blessing from God, not only for Araguaína, but also for those who who come to town to give birth to new lives and those who need support".
The new center, entitled to the Mother of Divine Providence, can accommodate 22 people and is a provisional reception facility for women who are about to give birth, especially for those arriving from other cities where there are no health facilities. The structure was born thanks to a partnership between Don Orione Hospital and the Ministry of Health, with the mediation of the State Secretariat for Health. "A Home to welcome the 'Person', where mothers who have their children admitted to the hospital's neonatal ward, can be welcomed, and can receive medical, social and spiritual support", said Father Jarbas Assunção Serpa, President of the Don Orione Hospital. The House will be able to assist an average of 500 deliveries a month. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 5/9/2017)
