Beijing (Agenzia Fides) - Maximum transparency and an accurate study of the real needs have been assured by Jinde Charites, the Chinese Catholic charity body, in the use of about 100,000 euros collected in the first National Collection, held on Palm Sunday , April 9 (see Fides 06/04/2017). The initiative launched by Jinde Charites, following the experience of the Universal Church, was widely welcomed by the continental’s Catholic communities. According to the latest news from Agenzia Fides, on June 12th, the organization received 1,233 bank transfers for a total sum of 670,312 yuan (equivalent to 90,000 euros) from 33 parishes of 15 dioceses, while some dioceses are still sending their contributions .
Moving stories were reported during the collection of funds, such as the one in the only Parish in Yan Jing, in Tibet, with just over 700 faithful in a village of 800 people, who sent 12,290 yuan (nearly 2,000 euros) or as the very poor parish of Lan Zhou diocese in Gan Su province, which gave 626 yuan (nearly 90 euros) despite their difficulties. The diocese of Gui zhou donated 71,970 yuan (10,000 euros).
