Mexico City (Agenzia Fides) - In Mexico 9 children out of 100 between 5 to 17 years of age work. According to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), there are two million and 475,000 children engaged in various activities, of whom 38% receive no remuneration and 4 out of 10 (37%) do not go to school . Among the working children, 30.2% are girls. Inegi added that in the less urbanized areas, the employment rate of the population aged 5 to 17 is higher (10.3%) than that of the more urbanized ones (5.9%). There are also minors engaged in activities considered dangerous by the Federal Labor Law, we are talking about 9 children out of 10 (89.6%). (AP) (Agenzia Fides, 9/6/2017)
