AMERICA/ARGENTINA - Group of 120 workers without jobs appeal to the Bishop of Reconquista

Reconquista (Agenzia Fides) - On November 22, the Bishop of the diocese of Reconquista, His Exc. Mgr. Ángel José Macin, visited the headquarters of the union of textile workers to express his solidarity to the 120 unemployed workers, employees of Santa Fe company in the city of Reconquista. The Bishop had been invited to inform him of the situation and to ask for his intervention with state authorities in case the factory is declared bankrupt.
During the meeting, delegates Ruben Lemos and Orestes Gonzalez, along with a significant number of workers, spoke to the Bishop about the difficult situation they are going through. On his behalf part, Msgr. Macin expressed his closeness and the reason for his presence: prayer, immediate help and the possibility to coordinate the management of the issue in order to reach a favorable solution.
According to the local press, since August this large textile factory, due to management problems among its partners, has stopped production and no longer pays 120 employees. In September, the management wanted to continue production but only with 40 workers, but failed in the attempt. Today 120 families are without pay and do not see a way out of the problem.
