Kinshasa (Agenzia Fides) - The police prevented the demonstration in Kinshasa on Saturday, November 5 by the opposition (see Fides 04/11/2016). Officers surrounded the residence of Etienne Tshisekedi, the main opposition leader in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and managed to disperse the crowd.
Also the signal of Radio Okapi, the Congolese broadcaster promoted by the UN, and that of Radio France International (RFI) have been disturbed in Kinshasa and Lubumbashi, the Country's second city and opposition stronghold to President Joseph Kabila.
"We believe it is a damage that a broadcaster like Radio Okapi, which is at the service of the Congolese people, is blacked out... and we deplore the fact that the signal of Radio France International, was also cut off", said the spokesman for the UN Mission in the DRC (MINUSCA).
