Czestochowa (Agenzia Fides) - On 13 and 14 September the diocesan Seminar of Czestochowa hosted the meeting of diocesan Directors of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS), in charge of the missions of religious congregations and lay missionary animators in Poland. According to information sent to Fides by the National Director of the PMS in Poland, Mgr. Tomasz Atlas, the theme of the meeting was the centenary of the Pontifical Missionary Union (PMU). Fr. Jan Górski, University professor in Silesia and former National Secretary of the PMU, spoke about the charisma of this Society. The participants therefore took part in several workshops on the new evangelization.
During the meeting, the national Secretaries of the PMS presented their programs for next year. Fr. Maciej Bedziński, secretary of the Pontifical Mission Society of the Propagation of Faith and St. Peter Apostle, presented a new initiative, the Voluntary Missionary of the young, encouraging its spread in the dioceses, and spoke of the Adoption of Missionary Seminarians, as well as of other forms of aid to missions. The National Secretary of the Holy Childhood Association, Anna Sobiech, explained the missionary formation programs for young people and in particular focused on the initiative of the Star Singers. Fr. Luca Bovio, IMC, National Secretary of the PMU, encouraged them to invoke Blessed Paolo Manna, founder of the PMU.
"I believe that providentially the centennial of PUM coincides with the new pastoral year that we live under the slogan" Go and proclaim". My dream, linked with this jubilee, is that we all renew the charism of the PMU - we, priests and consecrated persons, especially those preparing for priesthood – may the missionary activity enter our communities, so that our assistance to missions is not occasional, but natural", said Mgr. Tomasz Atlas, national Director of the PMS, organizer of the meeting. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 21/09/2016)
