AFRICA/CENTRAL AFRICA - New threats to the village of Ngaoudaye, where a Capuchin mission was ransacked

Monday, 20 June 2016 armed groups

Bangui (Agenzia Fides) - "The MPC-RJ armed group has not returned to base near Paoua after the attack on Ngaoudaye, but withdrawn in Kollo, a village on the border with Chad" refer Church sources to Agenzia Fides.
Fighters have launched an ultimatum from Kollo to the inhabitants of Ngaoudaye with a request of money in order not to suffer a second attack.
On 15 June the village of Ngaoudaye, in the northwest of the Central African Republic, was ransacked. Even the local Capuchin mission was damaged (see Fides 16/06/2016). The MPC-RJ (Mouvement Patriotic pour la Centrafrique) is one of the movements born by the former alliance of Seleka rebels, that had seized power in 2013 before being driven out by the so-called anti-Balaka, (another armed group).
Fides sources launch an appeal for the inhabitants of the region of Ndim: "The MPC-RJ men take advantage of the poor property of the inhabitants. Some homes are damaged or set on fire. The population is hiding in the fields and in the bush".
The UN Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) announced that it has strengthened the Blue Helmets safety device in Ngaoundaye and the surrounding area. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides 20/05/2016)
