Kathmandu (Agenzia Fides) - In Nepal there is a national program to support and compensate the women involved in the long civil conflict that crossed the country until the middle of the century. Yet most women do not turn to the authorities that could help them get justice. "Seven out of 10 women do not know the aid programs that affect them", explained the local representative in Nepal of CCS Italian non-profit organization, in a statement sent to Fides. "Moreover, even among those who know the program, over 50% have no confidence that they can be helped or fear reprisals".
Thanks to a recent study carried out in recent weeks in seven districts among the hardest hit by the civil war, the "Empowering Women for Peace" project, funded by the European Union Delegation in Kathmandu was promoted, with the aim of supporting all authorities in the Country to achieve the two main UN resolutions on the role of women in peace processes. It is a difficult but essential journey that will take shape over the next three years. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 02/06/2016)
