Ouagadougou (Agenzia Fides) - To be present and close to the last and the marginalized, to promote the culture of solidarity and hospitality. These are the goals of the project presented by the "Justice and Peace" Episcopal Commission of Burkina Faso on November 6 and will be implemented in 10 dioceses chosen (out of 15).
The project, said His Exc. Mgr. Thomas Kaboré, Bishop of Kaya and President of "Justice and Peace", aims to "promote social justice and peace, to wake up and form the consciences of individuals and communities to the values of justice and peace, to defend human rights violated, favoring the weak and marginalized in Burkina Faso".
During the three-year life of the project "our Commission - said Mgr. Kaboré – wants to be present alongside the vulnerable, women accused of witchcraft, for example, wants to stop violence against women and children and violence related to land disputes".
The project was praised by the Minister of Social Action and Solidarity, who called it "huge" (it has a budget of about 330 million CFA francs, 503,081 euros). (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides 10/11/2015)
