Juba (Agenzia Fides) - The implementation of the peace plan signed in August is more important than the creation of new States. This is the opinion expressed by Mgr. Thomas Oliha Tiya, Apostolic Administrator of Torit, South Sudan, to Catholic Radio Network.
Mgr. Oliha Tiya added that the South Sudanese Church is praying so that Pope Francis appoints Bishops of the vacant dioceses of Rumbek, Malakal and Torit, and has invited Christians for calm and prayer. The peace agreement signed in South Sudan by President Salva Kiir and the opposition leader, former Vice President Riek Machar, to end the civil war which broke out in December 2013, must still be implemented, while the announcement by President Kiir of South Sudan to divide the current 10 States in 28 is raising fears and criticisms (see Fides 08/10/2015).
