San Jose (Agenzia Fides) - The "Mensa Infantile" of the city of Cartago welcomes 80 minors, all poor, mainly children of single mothers. The initiative of the canteen was created at the initiative of the inhabitants of Cartago. Currently an 81-year-old woman and her two daughters, who are helped by a group of volunteers are providing the food and taking care of the needs of the children. The work of these women goes beyond the preparation of meals: sometimes the children arrive without breakfast or even without having eaten the night before, so there are always cold drinks and small snacks to welcome them. The canteen receives financial support thanks to the collaboration of some companies in the province and the solidarity of the local people. A requisite required by the Board of Directors of the 'Asociación Pro Comedor is that they have to be students, even if young preschool children are not rejected. Besides food, children also receive clothes. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 28/09/2015)
