OCEANIA/AUSTRALIA - Catholic Pastoral Projects Office opens new website

Sydney (Fides Service) -The research and pastoral planning office of the Australian Bishops has just unveiled its new website www.ppo.catholic.org.au offering information on its progects, a FAQ about the Church in Australia, links to other local and international church research sites.
The mission of the Pastoral Projects Office is to assist the Catholic Church in Australia at all levels in understanding the cultural, social and personal dimensions of religion in the changing contemporary context. Activity includes: coordinating Catholic participation in the National Church Life Survey; coordinating the National Catholic Census Project; conducting the national Count Attendance; providing assistance to dioceses and Catholic Education Offices in the understanding and use of NCLS and Census data; providing research and pastoral planning consultancy services to dioceses and Catholic organisations.
The web site will also further contact between the Office and the faithful who are encouraged to send in contributions, reflections and requests.
In their work office personnel, religous and secular work in cooperation with various Australian universities and research centres. The main areas in which pastoral projects are launched include education, cultural and spiritual formation, development and assistance for disadvantaged youth and groups
