AFRICA/COTE D’ IVOIRE - New Bishop of Odienne

Vatican City (Fides Service) - The Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI on 29 July 2005 appointed Bishop of Odienne (Cote d’ Ivoire) Rev. Salomon Lezoutié of the clergy of Yopougon until now spiritual director at the major seminary in Anyama.
The new Bishop was born in Yopougon 8 April 1958. He obtained a licentiate in applied economy in his home country and a degree in biblical theology at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome. He was ordained a priest on 23 July 1989. He has been: priest in charge at Yopougon cathedral, diocesan head of youth pastoral and pastoral of the sick and prisoners, bishop’s secretary and collaborator with the nunciature in Abidjan, Vice-Rector, professor of Sacred Scripture and spiritual director at the major seminary in Anyama.
