ASIA/HONG KONG - Hong Kong diocese starts school of evangelisation on-line

Hong Kong (Fides Service) - On Pentecost Sunday, 15 May, Hong Kong diocese officially inaugurated its new School of Evangelisation on-line an idea of the diocesan youth group supervised by Italian PIME missionary Fr. Giovanni Giampietro in Hong Kong. The School aims to evangelise mainly among overseas Chinese communities and offer the Good News to those who have not heard it. In an address for the occasion the Bishop’s representative Mgr. Dominic Chen Chi Ming said: “Internet is a new channel for evangelisation which can reach thousands of people at once” and he praised the young people for putting their technical abilities at the service of the Church. The School programme is in Chinese and English and has at present 36 forum with 10-15 students teach and a tutor to follow the group .
Students spend two to three hours a week for study and sharing. Most live in the United States, Australia, Canada, and some in Brunei and Peru. Lessons include: evangelisation in the Bible and in Church teaching; the history of evangelisation in America, Africa and Asia; Asian religions; problems and challenges in evangelisation in different contexts and countries today.
