OCEANIA/AUSTRALIA - Canberra diocesan monthly marks 200th edition

Thursday, 2 June 2005

Canberra (Fides Service) - This month June 2005 the Catholic Voice monthly publication of the Archdiocese of Canberra is celebrating its 200th issue. “The publication was launched in 1998 and in these seven years it has been a channel for offering witnesses of Christian life, sharing hopes and explaining the challenges the Church encounters in her mission” the staff told Fides. The goal of Editor Geoff Orchison and his group of talented young volunteers is to make the periodical a means of communication awaited and interesting, to encourage debate and bring reflections to the attention of the Catholic community and also non Catholics and non believers. The diocesan community takes an active part in preparing the publication sending in articles, comments, information and photographs. One of the publication’s main columnists is the Archbishop of Canberra himself Mgr. Francis Carroll. Also parishes, schools, organisations and movements send in regular information and material helping to enrich the baggage of news the paper offers the community every month.
Today Catholic Voice is a valid channel of formation, information and opinion sharing which the entire diocesan community cannot do without. It intends to continue to be a place and a means to achieve the local Church’s mission to evangelise.
