Rome (Fides Service ) - “It is with great solemnity that all the 162 members of Caritas Internationalis mark the passing of His Holiness Pope John Paul II. Archbishop Fouad el-Hage President of Caritas Internationalis said in an official statement issued on 2 April 2005. “For the Caritas Confederation it is a time to honour the Holy Father who championed respect for human dignity above all else and taught us “For our organisation this is a time to render homage to the Holy Father who was a champion of respect for human rights and with his example taught us what it means to follow the Lord with our feet well planted at the heart of the Church’s social mission. Throughout his life John Paul II responded with compassion to the problems of the world and inspired us with his dedication to the people we service - the poor, the hungry, the displaced and all those who cry out for justice and an end to suffering. Caritas Internationalis is committed to follow Pope John Paul in our works for justice and peace”
