Antananarivo (Fides Service)- “Since his holiness was admitted to hospital special prayers for his intentions and speedy recovery are being offered in parishes throughout Antananarivo” Father Cosimo Alvati, head of Radio Don Bosco di Antananarivo, capital of Madagascar, told Fides. “We get calls every day long from listeners inquiring about the Pope’s health” the priest said. “The Pope is always present in our programmes. For example our daily programme of prayer always includes a prayer for the Pope. Recently we have been keeping our audience informed on the Holy Father’s condition during a five news programmes in Malagasy and also through our relay of Vatican Radio French programmes which includes news of the Pope”.
“What is more” Father continued “the Pope is never missing on two other important weekly programmes. The first is our regular Sunday Mass broadcast mainly for the sick and bedridden for which listeners can phone in their prayer intentions and many are for the Pope. And then we have two weekly programmes on religious matters, one focused on the local Church and the other on the universal Church and the latter features various events and celebrations involving the Pope and also on his health” Father Alvati concluded.
