AFRICA/BENIN - Radio which denounces trafficking of child slaves broadcasts prayers for John Paul II

Cotonou (Fides Service)- Also in Benin Catholics pray incessantly for the health of John Paul II. “On Saturday 5 March 2005 at 11am a special Mass will be celebrated for the Roman Pontiff in every cathedral in the country” Father Alfonso Maria Bruno, superior of the Franciscans of Immaculate Mary in Benin who is the director of Radio Immaculate Conception, told Fides.
“Every evening at 7pm when the Franciscan Sisters of Mary Immaculate lead the recitation of the Rosary over the radio, a special intention is made for the Pope“ the missionary added.
Radio Immaculate Conception is particularly active in denouncing the tragedy of child slaves sold by traffickers and forced to work long hours in plantations in neighbouring countries. (Agenzia Fides 4/3/2005 righe 14 parole 144)
