AFRICA/ANGOLA - Bishop of Cabinda resigns, successor appointed

Vatican City (Fides Service) - The Holy Father, Pope John Paul II has, 11 February 2005, accepted the resignation of the pastoral government of the diocese of Cabinda (Angola), presented by Bishop Paulino Fernandes Madeca, in conformity with the Code of Canon Law, canon 401 § 1. The Holy Father has appointed Bishop of Cabinda (Angola) Bishop Filomeno do Nascimento Vieira Dias, until now titular Bishop of Fiumepiscense and Auxiliary of Luanda. (S.L.)
