AMERICA/BRAZIL - National Family Week, an event that grows in Brazil

Tuesday, 11 August 2015

Brasilia (Agenzia Fides) - National Family Week takes place throughout Brazil from Monday 10 to Saturday 15.
Founded in 1992, it is an annual event and is part of the calendar of the parishes and communities across the country.
The central theme of this year is: "If love is our mission: the family is fully alive".
The event is sponsored by the National Commission for Family Pastoral Care (CNPF), an organization linked to the Episcopal Commission for Pastoral Life and Family of the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB).
"The National Family Week is an event that grows every year. It happens in an important context because August is the month of vocations. A month dedicated to consecrated life, priestly vocations, religious vocations", says the Bishop of the Diocese of Osasco and President of the Committee of Life and Family of the CNBB, His Exc. Mgr. João Bosco Barbosa de Sousa, O.F.M.
The note concludes with the invitation of the Bishop: "We want to invite all families, especially those who are engaged in the pastoral care and movements for the family to make this week an important event in our country". (CE) (Agenzia Fides 11/08/2015)
