ASIA/INDIA - Believers in India unite to pray for tsunami victims

Bangalore (Fides Service)- Members of different religions united to pray for victims of the December 26 seaquake in Bangalore, capital of Karnataka. Several hundred people attende an inter-religious prayer meeting for all the victims in all the affected countries .
The meeting was presided by the first minister of Karnataka state, Hon. Chatruvendi, who said that the event was a demonstration that all humanity is the family of God and that the human race has one origin and destiny.
At the end of the meeting the participants, including leading Hindus, Jainists, Sikhs, Muslims, Catholics and other heads of other Christian communities launched an appeal for solidarity for the survivors of the tragedy. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides 7/1/2005 righe16 parole 164)
