AMERICA/ARGENTINA - The first Congress on intercultural and interreligious dialogue

Buenos Aires (Agenzia Fides) - The organizational meeting of the "First International Congress on Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue" to be held from November 16 to 18 on the theme "A path towards peace" was hosted by the Episcopal Conference of Argentina yesterday. Several representatives of economic, social, religious and cultural institutions attended the meeting together with the Honorary Presidents of the Congress, His Exc. Mgr. José Maria Arancedo, Archbishop of Santa Fe de la Vera Cruz and Rabbi Abraham Skórka.
According to information sent to Fides, the Congress will begin on November 16 with a "Concert for Peace", and will address several themes: "Fanaticism and religion", "Education and religion", "Family life and cohabitation", "The commitment of religions on ecology and sustainability of life", "Refugees due to religion and hunger", "Human trafficking: the slaves of the XXI century". The conclusive part of the conference will deal with the theme: "A path towards peace", of the two Honorary Presidents and Envoy of the Pope. There will also be the participation of international personalities of the political, cultural and diplomatic sphere in video conference.
Mgr. Arancedo explained that it is "a path, a seed of peace. We feel responsible, as people of faith, to propose that these values are compromised and compromise the dignity of the human person". (SL) (Agenzia Fides 18/06/2015)
