Lahore (Agenzia Fides) - Innocent victims accused of blasphemy are "marked forever": their lives are at risk if a court considers them innocent. For this reason they are forced to leave Pakistan. This is the experience of a Christian mother, accused of blasphemy (according to Article 295-C of the Penal Code) together with her husband in 2007.
In 2013, when she was found innocent and released, she had to move abroad, due to threats by extremists who continued to call her "blasphemous". She moved with her husband and her eldest daughter, achieving the status of "refugee" in a neighboring country. The couple have five children, in the care of relatives, but would like to reunite the family. "She asked me to arrange the transfer of the remaining members of her family" says to Fides Christian lawyer Mushtaq Gill, asking for international support.
The women, who lived in the village of Kot Nanak Singh, was accused of having denigrated the Koran. According to witnesses, she was accused by some Muslims and the accusations were totally false. (PA) (Agenzia Fides 29/05/2015)
