Tuesday, 24 March 2015

Beijing (Agenzia Fides) - As every year, Chinese Catholics are living their spiritual journey towards Easter with various initiatives. The communities are organizing spiritual retreats.
The parish of the diocese of Xuan Hua organized the retreat for the faithful elders from March 16 to 20. About 130 faithful listened to priests and nuns who explained the meaning of the Year of consecrated life, they illustrated the theme of the Family, which will be discussed in the Synod of Bishops in October, they focused on evangelization and the transmission of faith to today’s youth.
In Inner Mongolia priests, nuns and seminarians set out to reach the most remote communities who do not have many opportunities to have a resident priest throughout the year, in order to help them to prepare for Easter. Two sisters of the Congregation of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart of Our Lady in Bao Tou, who built a house in Mongolia for the elderly and many other pastoral works with their hands, without asking for economic aid, went to the Basic Ecclesial Communities to bring God's love to all in view of Easter.
In the diocese of Hong Kong different Christian denominations attended an "ecumenical Via Crucis" on 14 March. Hundreds of faithful prayed for the people of Hong Kong, for the poor, for persecuted Christians, for Christian unity. Each station was commented by a Catholic priest or protestant pastor. The procession made stops in several Catholic, Protestant and Anglican churches. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 24/03/2015)
