ASIA/THAILAND – Examples of daily life and work of evangelization

Monday, 9 March 2015

Pathum Thani (Agenzia Fides) - Father Adriano Pelosin, PIME missionary, sent Agenzia Fides a testimony regarding the work of evangelization carried out by priests, nuns, seminarians and local Catholic families through the Thai Missionary Institute, (see Fides 10/12/2014). Father Adriano gives us examples of life in slums and the daily life of many people. Among these events, he cites the story of Ari, a 42-year-old widow, who lives in a slum house with his father, who until recently was seriously ill, and his daughter. Ari's father could not be cured free of charge like all Thai citizens because when he was born he was not registered in his municipality. Then, thanks to the collaboration of a Catholic lawyer, a young Muslim and another young Buddhist, converted to Christianity, they were able to obtain citizenship so he could be treated and cured. Another episode of local life concerns a rich Cambodian girl and what later became her husband, who instead came from a poor family. The two, managed to escape to Thailand and got married with the help of the missionaries. They now have a beautiful little girl. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 09/03/2015)
