AFRICA/SIERRA LEONE - Care centers for children who have been in contact with family members infected by Ebola

Monday, 9 March 2015

Freetown (Agenzia Fides) - To help children orphaned by Ebola, but not necessarily infected with the virus, the Ministry for Social Affairs of Sierra Leone, with the support of UNICEF, has established Centres of Temporary Assistance and Observation. The aim of these centers is to take care of children who have been in close contact with relatives infected by Ebola but show no symptoms and do not have any other family member who can look after them. Currently 20/25 are being assisted and are being kept under observation. Here they spend the quarantine period together with assistants who survived Ebola, too. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 09/03/2015)
