San Juan (Agenzia Fides) – Boys and girls with Down syndrome, autism or whose physical conditions confine them to a wheel chair, recently took part with their respective families, in the Fifth Children’s Fishing Competition organised by Cabo Rojo. According to a report sent to Fides, the novelty this year was the participation of government officials and agencies as well as volunteers belonging to the local Grupo Unidos en Mar y Tierra. The competition aims to promote the activity of fishing while fostering family unity. The young participants with special abilities and their respective parents, assisted by volunteers, were embarked on boats which put out to sea for the competition. The children’s reaction was one of wonder and amazement but also a little fearful when the fish began to bite the bait. The competition ended with an award ceremony and a show for the children .
