San Cristobal de Las Casas (Agenzia Fides) - The Commission for the Biblical Pastoral Care of the Episcopal Conference of Mexico (CEM), led by Mgr. Florencio Armando Colin, went to the diocese of San Cristobal de Las Casas for three days, to review the translation of the New Testament in Tsotsil language spoken in the Huixtán area. The Missionary priests of the Sacred Heart and of Our Lady of Guadalupe, along with some local priests and catechists of the parishes have been working on the transaltion for 35 years.
The note sent to Agenzia Fides reports that there was a lot of participation on behalf of the community, the young and old, who contributed to the translation. The Commission's review was made by analyzing the main biblical texts, in particular Christological, sacramental and ecclesiological texts.
The text, the statement concludes, now awaits the approval of CEM, that will review it during its meeting next April.
