Friday, 12 December 2014

Shi Jia Zhuang (Agenzia Fides) - As every year, the Catholic communities in mainland China have launched numerous initiatives of charity and spirituality in this Advent season to help the faithful, especially the elderly, the disabled and all the people who cannot attend church, to prepare themselves for Christmas. Even Jinde Charities is organizing its annual event, the Evening of Christmas Charity, to raise money to support numerous charitable works such as that carried out by members of the charity Group of the Rosary and the spiritual Group of St. Anne of the cathedral of the Diocese of Bao Ding, in He Bei province. Led by the pastor, they are visiting the home of the elderly, the elderly who are alone and the sick.
Since the beginning of Advent they have visited more than 30 elderly, some even non-Catholics, bringing them, as a Christmas gift, oil, rice and fruit.
Since 2005, the Chinese Catholic charitable organization Jinde Charities has been organizing the Evening of Christmas Charity every year in Shi Jia Zhuang for the collection of funds. For the 2014 edition of the Evening the theme "I walk with you" was chosen, with three specific intentions: to warm the hearts of children; to fulfill the dreams of young people; to provide dental care to the elderly.
