Monday, 10 November 2014

Washington (Agenzia Fides) - Kenneth Bae and Matthew Miller, two American citizens who were detained in North Korea for religious reasons, were released and arrived in the United States. Bae thanked the North Korean government and the US government for their efforts. Great relief and gratitude were expressed by the families and organizations defending religious freedom.
Bae, 46, is a Korean-American Christian missionary who was accompanying a group to North Korea in 2012, when he was arrested and charged with crimes against the state. Even Matthew Todd Miller spent seven months in jail, after seeking political asylum in the country, on suspicion of being a spy. A few days ago even Jeffrey Fowle had been released, detained for six months for leaving a copy of the Bible in a public place. (PA) (Agenzia Fides 10/11/2014)
