ASIA/CHINA - Celebration of the Immaculate Conception in all Chinese Catholic communities

Beijing (Agenzia Fides) - The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of Mary was celebrated with particular fervor by all the Chinese Catholic communities, with Masses, adorations, Marian vigils, processions and many other initiatives which highlighted the great devotion of the Chinese towards the Mother of God. According to what was reported to Fides Agency by Faith of He Bei, the Cathedral of the Diocese of Tian Jin, like that of Beijing, both dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, began celebrations with a vigil on December 7, followed by Sunday Mass, adoration, the prayer of the Rosary and a solemn Marian procession. Other celebrations were planned for December 9, since according to the liturgical calendar on Sunday, December 8th we celebrated the liturgy of the Second Sunday of Advent, the liturgy of the Immaculate Conception and therefore was postponed to the next day.
In the parish of Gong Ming Lu of the Diocese of Zheng Zhou, in He Nan province, as in many other parishes, the solemn consecration of the parish, the country and the life of every faithful to Our Lady took place. During the homily, the priest explained the origin and history of the Immaculate Conception and the importance of Marian devotion in Christian life . Over 600 faithful of the parish of the Good Shepherd of the Diocese of Bao Tou, Inner Mongolia, attended the blessing and inauguration of a statue of Our Lady of the Rosary situated in the outer courtyard of the church.
