Thursday, 5 December 2013

Harare (Agenzia Fides) - The Archbishop of Harare, His Exc. Mgr. Robert Christopher Ndlovu, has announced the birth of a Catholic community radio station that will start as soon as it obtains the license from the government.
"The initiative is managed by Fr. Nigel Johnson S.J. together with the communications director of the Jesuits, Gift Mambipiri. In the last ten years, both Fr. Johnson and Mambipiri have gained extensive experience in the field of community radio in Zimbabwe. So far, a license to broadcast in the country has not been received, but the neighboring countries have several stations in function. Among its objectives, Radio Chiedza aims to amplify the message of the Church, especially on issues of social justice; be a platform for the evangelization of the political, social, cultural and economic dimension; address social issues of our time (eg. HIV/AIDS, justice and peace, modern families and their challenges). (SL) (Agenzia Fides 05/12/2013)
