AMERICA/COSTA RICA - From December, all the parishes will reflect on the Bishops’ document in view of elections

San José (Agenzia Fides) - The Catholic Church's Pastoral Groups of Costa Rica are responsible for promoting discussion and raising the faithful’s awareness on the document "Rehabilitar la Politica", prepared by the Bishops of Costa Rica in preparation for the presidential elections on February 2, 2014 (see Fides 14/11/2013) .
From the note sent to Fides Agency by a local source, we learn that His Exc. Mgr. José Francisco Ulloa Rojas, Bishop of Carthage, decided that in his diocese, "in the months of December and January, all parish groups will be convened to discuss the document during weekly or bi-weekly meetings". The intention is that, in the two months before the election, all the parish groups have to start the discussion on the document. "The priests are well informed on how to facilitate discussion at a group level, but this does not mean that priests can comment on the document during Mass for those who cannot participate in the groups", said the Bishop.
The note also says that Father William Rodriguez Leon, Executive Secretary for the communication of the Episcopal Conference, stressed that this work is implicit by reading the guidelines established by the Episcopal Conference of Costa Rica, which states: "Priests are the voice of the Bishops in the parishes. So it is obvious that they have an obligation to contribute to the promotion of ethical guidelines included in the document". (CE) (Agenzia Fides 20/11/2013)
