ASIA/CHINA - The intense spiritual journey of the Year of Faith continues with the opening of the new liturgical year

Beijing (Agenzia Fides) - With the opening of the new liturgical year, the spiritual journey of the Year of Faith in mainland China intensifies. According to information gathered by Fides Agency, most of the continental Bishops have recently published a letter on the Year of Faith giving specific and demanding recommendations to the faithful to respond to Pope Benedict XVI’s appeal in communion with the Universal Church. Among these, His Exc. Mgr. Zhang Wei Zhu of the Diocese of Xin Xiang; His Exc. Mgr. Francis An Shu Xin, Coadjutor Bishop of Bao Ding; His Exc. Mgr. Joseph Li Lian Gui, Bishop of the diocese of Xian Xian; His Exc. Mgr. Tan Yan Quan, Bishop of the Diocese of Nan Ning and also Bishop of the Diocese of Tai Yuan, Guang Zhou, Fu Zhou, Yi Xian, Zhao Xian, Xia Men.
In the Letters addressed to the faithful of their dioceses, the Bishops stressed the meaning and significance of faith, the reasons for the Year of Faith, the Holy Father's intentions .... Mgr. Zhang Wei Zhu, Bishop of the Diocese of Xin Xiang, despite the obstacles to his pastoral activities, constantly follows the life of the Church always recalling the mission to which Christ called him. In his letter he urges "all the faithful to live the Year of Faith well responding to the Pope’s call," and with regards to priests, seminarians, men and women religious, faithful he emphasizes the link with the Year of Faith with vocation, family and Christian married life with evangelization. He also indicates 13 important points to carry out during the Year of Faith and Evangelization in communion with the universal Church, through works of charity and witness of faith."
