ASIA/HONG KONG - Hong Kong will host the next Asian Forum of the Liturgy

Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - The Pastoral will be the theme of the next Asian Forum of the Liturgy. The Diocese of Hong Kong will have the honor of hosting the meeting, when next year the 17th edition of the Forum will be celebrated. According to the Kong Ko Bao (the Chinese version of the diocesan bulletin), the location of the 2013 Forum was decided during the last Forum, which was held in Malaysia from October 15 to 19, focused on the promotion of the spirit of the liturgical reform of the Second Vatican Council. The 57 participants from Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Hong Kong, traced and discussed these past 50 years after the Council, starting from the Constitution on the Liturgy (Sacrosanctum Concilium), and focusing especially on the participation of the faithful in the liturgy, on the use of the local language and the translation of the liturgical text, on the role of the Bishop in the liturgical renewal, the orientation of inculturation, on the revision of the Roman Missal. The participants of the Forum confirmed their fidelity to the spirit of the liturgical reform for the renewal of the particular Church. Moreover, during the Forum, participants also visited the local Catholic community of Malaysia. The Asian Forum of the Liturgy began in 1996 in the Philippines. It is an annual event that allows liturgical operators of Asia to discuss and exchange views on the theme of the liturgy and liturgical life of their community.
