ASIA/TAIWAN - The East Asian youth operators discuss "Youth and the New Evangelization"

Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) - "Youth and the New Evangelization" was the theme of the annual Meeting of East Asian Youth operators of the Youth Pastoral in East Asia of the FABC (Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences), which took place from October 3 to 6 in the Sanctuary of Divine Love in the Diocese of Tai Chung. According to reports by the Catholic Weekly of the Archdiocese of Tai Pei, the youth operators from Hong Kong, Macau, Mainland China, Japan, Mongolia and several dioceses in Taiwan, shared the situation of the youth pastoral in East Asia, the ecclesial events for the youth at an international level, the evangelization of youth. The meeting was led by His Exc. Mgr. Thomas Chung, Bishop of Kiayi (Taiwan), head of the Group of Evangelization of the Regional Episcopal Conference of Taiwan, and His Exc. Mgr. Rolando J. Tirona, OCD, Bishop of the Prelature of Infanta (Philippines), Director of the Office of Laity and Family FABC. In his speech entitled "pastoral work with young people and evangelization," Mgr. Tirona called on all to raise awareness among young people about their Christian identity; to raise awareness of spirituality and inner life; to recognize the value of Christianity in Asia; to promote openness and trust in the Lord. Mgr. Chung also encouraged young people to support their peers today to laying a solid foundation for the future of the Church. During the 4 days of analysis and sharing, the participants, through workshops and film (origin and development of Asian Bishops' Conference), were able to draw a complete picture of the mission of evangelization and youth ministry of the area.
