VATICAN - "New Evangelization in Islamic countries": a symposium at the Lateran

Rome (Agenzia Fides) - "The new evangelization and the Church in Pakistan", "Communion and Witness in Islamic countries", "Mystical Experience: meeting ground between Christianity and Islam": are some of the topics that will be addressed at the conference "The new evangelization in Islamic countries," which will be held on October 29 at the Pontifical Lateran University (PUL). The initiative, organized by the Faculty of Philosophy of the PUL, was launched on the occasion of the Year of Faith and as a corollary to the Synod on the New Evangelization, being held at the Vatican. Among the speakers at the conference there is Mgr. Sebastian Shaw, Auxiliary Bishop of Lahore; prof. Valentino Cottini, dean of the Pontifical Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies (PISAI); Fr. Salim El-Rajji, Rector of the Maronite College Mariamite in Rome; prof. Mobeen Shahid, a professor at the PUL. "The mission of the Church in Islamic countries – says to Fides Mgr. Shaw on presenting the Symposium - is the witness of the Gospel made up of dialogue, friendship and good relations with Muslims, both in terms of leadership, and the common people."
