ASIA/CHINA - In the parish of Jiang Yin, the Diocese of Nan Jing, 294 baptized in eight months

Nan Jing (Agenzia Fides) - In the first eight months of 2012, the parish of Jiang Yin of the Diocese of Nan Jing, in the province of Jiang Su, welcomed 294 new members after a long journey of preparation and catechesis. According to what was reported to Fides by Faith of He Bei, more than 400 catechumens attended meetings of catechism, and 294 of them were baptized. The head of the parish said: "in view of the Year of Faith, we continue to promote evangelization." Since 2006 this parish has begun to organize a course for the laity on evangelization, which in addition to raising the faithful’s awareness on the need to contribute to the mission, it also intends to form lay people on the content of faith and the most appropriate way to respond to the missionary needs. The parish also uses the most modern means to engage people in parish life and in the missionary commitment, such as text messages contacts of via the web, without forgetting a visit to the families.
