AFRICA/SOMALIA-Children emergency, the victims mostly affected by food crisis

Mogadishu (Agenzia Fides) - The Somali children are the victims mostly affected by the food crisis in the Horn of Africa. The latest estimates indicate that people under 18 represent 80% of the 121 000 refugees housed in 4 camps set up in south-eastern Ethiopia by the United Nations for Refugees (UNHCR). The organization is seriously concerned about the high rate of infant mortality, mainly caused by malnutrition for about at least 19% of children in the country. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 01/10/2011)
