AMERICA/BRAZIL - Missionary Exhibition in Belem: "Let’s open the windows of our faith to the world"

Tuesday, 20 September 2011

Belem (Agenzia Fides) - From 24 September to 1 October, on the eve of the missionary Month, at a place adjacent to the Basilica of Nazareth in Belem (Brazil), the Diocesan Missionary Council of the Archdiocese of Belém, promotes a missionary Exhibition in order to raise community awareness about the mission of the Church in the world. The Exhibition presents more than 30 banners with which one makes a journey to discover the mission of the Church and is divided into three sections, in order to express three different realities. The first goal is to fascinate visitors by presenting the beauty of the world. In the second section they are prepared to listen to the cry of humanity. In the third, the Church's response to the cry of humanity is presented, in order to reawaken a sense of mission.
In the note sent by the Xaverian missionaries to Fides, reads that the missionary Exhibition, although open to all, aims to reach in its first edition public schools, so that young people and adolescents can find out where they live and improve their knowledge on the characteristics of each continent, including the economic, moral, religious, cultural, social situations, and their contrasts. It also aims to awaken a renewal of faith and awareness about the current needs of the world, in order to arouse the desire to live according to values, to ensure greater respect and care for the world and for human beings, the masterpiece of creation.
