AMERICA/ARGENTINA - The Secretary General of PSMC visits Argentina for the first time

Buenos Aires (Agenzia Fides) - The Secretary General of the Pontifical Society of Missionary Childhood (PSMC) Baptistine Ralamboarison, visited Argentina for the first time since starting the job. According to information sent to Fides by the National Directorate of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS), the Secretary General arrived in Argentina on Sunday, August 21, and was welcomed by the National Director of the PMS, Father Osvaldo Leone, Sister Mariel Robledo, HSJ, National Secretary for the Propagation of the Faith and Sister Marcela Davies, National Secretary of Missionary Childhood and Adolescence. On the same day, after a brief pause in the national headquarters of the PMS she visited the Basilica of Our Lady of Lujan, where she attended the Mass presided by Fr. Osvaldo Leone who asked the pilgrims to pray for the realization of the First National Meeting of Missionary Childhood and Adolescence scheduled in La Rioja on August 27 and 28.
On 22 August the Secretary General met the members of the National Secretariat of Missionary Childhood and Adolescence and father Leone, to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the work carried out by the PMS in the various dioceses. In the afternoon on the same day Baptistine Ralamboarison went to Llavallol, in the province of Buenos Aires, to attend a Mass during which badges were given to the children who belong to Missionary Childhood and Adolescence.
On 23 August, at the college of "Christ the King" in the Diocese of Avellaneda-Lanús, in the city of Dock Sud, in the province of Buenos Aires, the Secretary General met many children and adolescents, who was welcomed with great joy by the Vincentian Sisters of Zagreb. On August 24 she meet the Apostolic Nuncio in Argentina, Archbishop Adriano Bernardini. Baptistine Ralamboarison participated, on 27th and 28th August, in the First National Meeting of Missionary Childhood and Adolescence in La Rioja, and ended her visit on August 30.
Sister Mariel Robledo writes to Fides: " Baptistine Ralamboarison's first visit in America, more precisely in our country, was an opportunity that allowed her to get to know our culture, our history better, and was an approach to the reality experienced by children and adolescents in Argentina".
