ASIA - "Caritas In Veritate in the Asian context": a meeting in Thailand sponsored by the Asian Bishops

Pattaya (Fides Service) - Respect and solidarity towards immigrant domestic workers and indigenous people according to the teaching of Pope Benedict XVI in theEncyclical "Caritas In Veritate". This is the invitation to the 35 participants of the meeting which was held at the Redemptorist Center in Pattaya, in Thailand from July 26 to 29.
The event, whose theme was "Caritas In Veritate in the Asian context", was organized by the Office of Human Development of the Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences FABC.
Among the participants members of different committees, "Justice and Peace" , some organizations involved in the defense of indigenous people and Caritas of 12 Asian states were present. According to figures released during the work, 53 million are migrant domestic workers in Asia. An urgent issue that the pastoral care of the Church has to face.
During the Workshop the participants studied the application of the Encyclical Caritas In Veritate "in the life of the Church in Asia, the manner with which the Church can help migrant domestic workers to face their difficulties and the challenges the Church needs to deal with due to recent social and economic events.
