EUROPE/ITALY - The Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples will conclude the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of St. Justin, preacher in Ethiopia

Rome (Agenzia Fides) – His Exc. Mgr. Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, will conclude on Sunday, July 31, in the diocese of Mefi-Rapolla-Venosa, the cycle of celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the death of St. Justin De Jacobis, preacher in Ethiopia.
Archbishop Filoni will preside Mass in the church of San Fele, birthplace of the saint at 4pm.
This celebration requires us to remember the dramatic situation in the Horn of Africa (particularly in Somalia), where the Saint worked as a missionary.
The authoritative participation of the Prefect of "Propaganda Fide" is a sign to shake the Christian and civil community to come to the aid of these people so severely affected by famine. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides 07/29/2011)
