Ji Nan (Agenzia Fides) - On July 27 a solemn ceremony was celebrated on the occasion of the laying of the foundation stone of the new church dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the diocese of Ji Nan, in the Shan Dong province. According to reports from Faith of He Bei to Fides, over a thousand faithful attended the big event and the Eucharist presided by the diocesan bishop. In his homily, the bishop encouraged the faithful so that they can "build a Father’s House to glorify God and serve the people of God, making Jesus known to those around you". The parish is one of the largest in the diocese of Ji Nan, and is the only one present in the historic town of De Zhou. Having no other space available, up to the present the liturgical celebrations have always been celebrated in city hotels.
