Thursday, 21 July 2011

Bogota (Agenzia Fides) - The President of the Colombian Episcopal Conference (CEC), His Exc. Mgr. Ruben Salazar Gomez, Archbishop of Bogota, recently launched a new appeal for peace in the Latin American country through dialogue. Mgr. Salazar, in an interview with the national radio broadcaster RCN La Radio, highlighted the fact that the country must change mentality according to which peace is achieved only through weapons and conflicts, whereas other tools such as dialogue and verbal confrontation must be put into practice. "The road to peace is long and thorny, it is long, but worth trying", said the President of the CEC during the Te Deum in the Cathedral of Bogota. The Archbishop added that to achieve peace we must overcome historical differences, by creating better health and job opportunities in the country. (PA) (Agenzia Fides 21/07/2011)
