Castel Gandolfo (Fides Service) - An appeal for the humanitarian catastrophe that is affecting the Horn of Africa, particularly in Somalia, was launched on Sunday, July 17 by Pope Benedict XVI after the Angelus prayer, which was prayed with the faithful gathered in the courtyard of the Apostolic Palace of Castel Gandolfo. These are the words of the Pontiff: "I follow with deep concern the news from the Horn of Africa, particularly in Somalia, stricken by a severe drought and then, in some areas, even by heavy rains that are causing a humanitarian catastrophe. Countless people are fleeing from famine in search of food and aid. I hope international mobilization increases in order to immediately send help to our brothers and sisters and so many children already put to the test. Let us help these people, who are terribly suffering, with our solidarity and concrete support on behalf of all people of good will". (SL) (Agenzia Fides 07/18/2011)
