Rome (Fides Service) - Patricio Hacin, 36 years of age, originally from Chiloé Island in Patagonia, who will be ordained a priest on Saturday, June 25 in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome, is the first seminarian trained in the Latin American section of the seminary of the Priestly Fraternity Missionaries of St. Charles Borromeo, which represents an important milestone for the Fraternity, who chose to bring his educational efforts in the Latin American reality, as emphasized in the note sent to Fides. On the eve of the ordination, the young Chilean said: "I thank Providence for home training in Latin America: if I had started immediately in Rome, everything would have been more difficult". Together with Patricio Hacin, also Christoph Matyssek, German, 35 years old will be ordained a priest. Patricio will be sent on a mission to Washington (USA) and Christoph is destined to go on a mission to Holy Land. There will be six other seminarians ordained to the diaconate of St. Charles: five Italians and a Mexican. Ordinations will be presided by Archbishop Rino Fisichella, President of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the new Evangelization.
The Priestly Fraternity of the Missionaries of St. Charles Borromeo in twenty-five years has accompanied to priesthood over a hundred young people, who are now on a mission in 16 countries around the world. The members of the Society carry out their mission in the parishes, schools, universities, prisons and hospitals. The missionaries work together in the new evangelization and contribute to rediscovering the Christian roots in European countries. (S.L.) (Agenzia Fides 06/24/2011)
