San Juan de Cuyo (Fides Service) - "When social life is based on the ethical principle of good, society matures in peace, and so it is a pleasure to live in. But when we forget about justice and truth, there remains only the volatility of something that does not last long, although it seems nice". These are the words of the Archbishop of San Juan de Cuyo, Mgr. Alfonso Delgado, on the occasion of the 449 years celebration of the founding of the city of San Juan, inspired by the Psalm that says, "If the Lord does not build the house, the builders toil in vain; if the Lord does not guard the city, the sentinels guard in vain".
The Archbishop noted that "a society without God is without moral foundation to grow in freedom and face the evil forces; it remains without any strength to live in dignity". Then he continued: "God builds, when the builders, citizens, build with respect for all, in solidarity, with responsibility, with loyalty and service to all mankind, without exception, when their lives reflects honesty, integrity, loyalty. God builds the big house of the nation blessing the representatives of the people who enjoy the social and civil legitimacy of their voters".
Mgr. Delgado emphasized that "one builds on quicksand when we allow this great disease of society, which many call the 'social cancer' to enter, because at first you do not see, but if not detected and treated immediately it ends up invading the whole body. I am referring to corruption, we all pay for, especially the most vulnerable, to which you add inflation which is the tax to the poorest. Along with drugs, are the great plagues of several Latin American countries , including our own". In the end Mgr. Delgado added: "The fatherland is for all. And is the inheritance for all children. And we want to leave a home better and better city, with the blessing of God, love of people, and with the responsibility of the legitimate representatives of the people".
