EUROPE/ITALY-Consolata Missionaries(male and female): general Superiors have been elected

Rome (Agenzia Fides) - The Consolata (male) Missionaries (ICM) and the Sisters of the Consolata Missionaries (ISCM), held a general Chapter meeting on May 9, respectively, in Rome and Nepi (VT), and elected the new general Superiors: father Stefano Camerlengo and Sister Simone Brambilla.
Father Stephen Chamberlain was born on June 11, 1956 at Morrovalle (MC), he completed his theological studies in Turin and Rome at the Gregorian University. He was ordained priest on March 19, 1984 at Wamba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a country where he has often carried out his pastoral, educational activities and worked as regional Superior. The last general Chapter elected him as general Vice Superior.
Sister Simona Brambilla, originally from Brianza is 46 years old. General Councillor since 2005, the new general Superior is a graduate in psychology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome with a thesis on "Evangelizing the heart. Evangelization inculturated between the Macua scirima in Mozambique ", the result of her missionary experience in Mozambique.
The Missionaries of the Consolata was founded in Turin by St. Joseph Allamano (1851-1926), who at the age of 29 was appointed Rector of the most important Marian shrine in the city, dedicated to “Our Lady Consolata”, and the teacher of the young clergy. The Consolata (male)Missionaries was founded in 1901 and the (female)Missionaries in 1910. The male institute now has about a thousand missionaries and there are 750 nuns in the female branch, both work in four continents. The closure of the Chapter is scheduled for June 20 in Turin, for the feast of the Consolata, at the Shrine dedicated to the Virgin. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 09/06/2011)
